With a history going back over three quarters of a century, AfriSam continues to be a major player in southern Africa's development. Our high quality products have made a significant contribution to the region's legacy through a variety of landmark projects.

AfriSam supplied the high quality 73 mm dolomitic and doleritic aggregate used as ballast on the tracks for the Gautrain project. The project will operate some 24 train sets of four rail cars each at speeds of 160 - 180 km per hour, 18 hours a day.

AfriSam supplied the andesite which was used in the construction of the Walter Sisulu Freedom Square in the heart of Kliptown, Soweto. Andesite is amongst some of the hardest rocks in South Africa.

AfriSam´s cement and 2.32 million cubic metres of concrete were used in this state-of-the-art dam with a wall height of 185m, a length of 710m along the top and a 60m thick base. Katse is at the heart of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project.

AfriSam supplied cement, concrete and base materials for different packages of the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project.

To fill the deep piles underpinning the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Newtown, a special self-compacting AfriSam Flowcrete was designed with extended workability. The concrete was then pumped into the 47m high pylons - from the bottom upwards - a process never before attempted.

AfriSam's high quality concrete was used to bring to life this number one entertainment destination, located in Fourways, North of Johannesburg.

AfriSam´s Readymix concrete was used to build the international terminal at O.R. Tambo Airport in Kempton Park, which receives 13 million visitors a year.

With Groote Schuur on the one side and Table Mountain on the other, hospital bend is situated where the N2 terminates.

AfriSam’s specialised concrete products were used in the construction of this architectural design. It features decorative walls and boxed apertures in the roof that allow natural light to flow in.

The Gariep Dam is the central structure of the Orange River Project and forms the largest storage reservoir in South Africa – with a total storage of 5 500 million cubic metres and a surface of more than 370 square kilometres when full.
